Glad It's Over

Let's just say Christmas was not my thing this year. Which is not normal at ALL. Usually I LOVE Christmas. I think with all the drama and chaos and utter disorganization that occurred this year I just had a hard time getting into the full on Christmas spirit. Despite my Scrooge type mood I did make the best of it for mini me. We baked cookies and decorated a ginger bread house as well as put up our own "girls" tree since the boys' tree was less than desirable to her. I did what I could to make it enjoyable for her and when Christmas was done and over I asked her if she had a good Christmas and with a big ol' smile she said "yes"! That's all that matters to me.

Christmas wasn't a total bust though, after opening presents at our house in the morning we spent the day with my guys' family and that is always a good time. I love his family!  I will always be thankful for the fact they make my daughter and I feel included, and that is amazing! Despite the good times and the bad moments this month has brought me I really learned who friends and family were and have weeded the ones who aren't true friends out and sadly to say after this Christmas weekend I even have to majorly distance myself from some family members. It's a sad day when that happens. But I am not going to let any of this negative energy follow me into 2012. Its a new year which is going to be a new me.

On the bright side of it all I did get myself a pretty badass Christmas gift. I finally decided it was time to quit thinking about learning to fly fish and actually do something about. I went out and bought my first fly rod and reel. Now if I only knew what in the hell I was doing. Thank god for Youtube haha, this should get interesting. If any of y'all have any pointers I would love to hear em!

The City Can Suck It

I had been looking forward to going to the city this past weekend for quiet some time. It had been almost a year since I had last been to Portland and I was starting to go through withdrawals! This was going to be the first time in over a year my guy and I had spent a weekend apart, so that was trying enough as is since I knew when it came time for bed I wasn't going to sleep that well, but I found comfort in the fact I was going to be with good friends who were almost like family, or so I thought. More on that situation in a moment. I was also secretly freaking out that I was going to come home to a disaster. Leaving 2 men, who are less than motivated to pick up after them selves, unsupervised in a house I have been working very hard to organize and clean was sure to be the end of me.

Thursday rolled around and I shipped mini me off to school for her last day before Christmas vacation and I went off to work for part of the day. Quitting time rolled around and I headed out of town grabbing little miss along the way. We were starting the 200 mile journey to the big city and at this moment I was super excited about it. I couldn't wait to get up there get a little shopping in and get some GOOD sushi which is so hard to come by around here. 1st stop when we hit the city was her dad's house since she hadn't seen him in a few months. That was bad idea #1 or at least for a few days I thought it was. Now I'm actually glad everything went down the way it did because I have eliminated some unnecessary people from my life. After leaving her dad's I was supposed to head another 45 minutes North to a friend of mines house, well after a conversation with her dad it was discovered this friend who I considered family was nothing more than a lying deceiving bitch. So I headed out in search of a decent hotel. I spent 2 nights in a damn freaking hotel, alone, not cool.

Woke up Friday thinking that it would be better than Thursday had been. It was already off to a rough start because of my lack of sleep in a super uncomfortable hotel bed without my guy. BOO. I figured some retail therapy might make me feel better. I headed for Fishermens Warehouse. I was almost positive I would cheer myself up there. I was on the hunt for a nice rod rack for the house, red power line in 30lb test, some new saltwater grade bombers for striper season coming up, and some 1/2 ounce pink rooster tails. Fishermens Warehouse ended up being a HUGE disappointment, they only had my power line. So I was 1 for 4. Next stop was what used to be the Sportsmans Warehouse and is now something like Wholesale Sports or some shit like that. It turned out to be strike 2 with nothing I was after.  What in the hell is going on here. I was sure a big city would have what I wanted but it had almost NOTHING. Of course I found things I liked so I got them but absolutely nothing I needed. Grrrr. It only got worse from there. As I get out to my truck the guy next to me rolls down his window and says "Sorry but I ran into your truck when I was pulling in". HOLY SHIT are you kidding me? At this point I have had it with the city and the shit going on, I wanted to dive through his window and strangle the dude. Instead I acted more responsibly, got his information and called on it right then, no way was I letting this guy out of my sight without having verified his insurance was legit. After all with my luck he would have left and everything he gave me would have been bogus. After that fiasco I decided I was done with the city. I remembered why I only came up once a flipping year. Let me tell you what I am in no way eager to go back up there. Shit the guided fishing trip I bought on the Columbia up there I'm about to have refunded back because I don't want to go any where near that god forsaken hell hole.

I am so glad I decided before going up there to only stay until Saturday because if I had to spend one more day up there chances were I would have committed homicide. That would not have been good. The only good thing that came out of it was a conversation I had with my Ex's dad which unfortunately I have to keep hush hush about for now and that my daughter got to have a mini Christmas with her dad. But lord was I happier than a clam at high tide when I finally got back home! I dropped my daughter at the babysitters, picked up my boyfriend and we headed for our friends' Christmas party!

Saturday was very much needed after the hell I had been through. It was about a 25 mile drive up the river to our friends place and along the way what runs out in the road, a coyote!!!! He dodged up an old dirt road and we took off after him, ran him quiet a ways trying to tire him out and get a chance at a good shot. Well he most definitely got tired but we never got a chance at a good shot because the road was so bumpy. We finally rounded a corner and he had a clearing to dart of into. Bummer. But the chase was fun. We turned around and headed back up the river. Spending the night with a good group of friends, drinking, bull shitting, and belting out songs like friends in low places and boot scoot boogie in a giant group huddle was exactly what I needed. There is nothing better than a down home redneck party!! And were doing it again NYE this time at my house! Watch out were going to rock the neighbor hood!

Getting Into The Spirit The Redneck Way

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year! Usually the day after Thanksgiving Ive already got my decorations up and the Christmas music going. Not the case this year. I was moving during the last 2 weeks of November and it was chaos. So needless to stay I'm still getting decorations up as I find them. This year I decided I wanted to have a real tree again. They are so much pretty than an artificial one and smell amazing. Well seeing as how my roommate is a logger he said he would bring one home out of the woods. AWESOME. Well that didn't turn out quiet like I had hoped. And I should have known better seeing as how when I moved in his tree from last year was on the kitchen table still and it was definitely one Charlie Brown would have been proud of. I procrastinated for a few days on saying anything or doing anything with it until the boys took the situation into their own hands.

Last years Charlie Brown tree. I'm still amazed all the needles were still intact

The burning of last years tree

This years tree

We had a BBQ with friends this weekend at our house and at one point the beer supply ran out so I ran to the store to stock up on some more. Bad idea. Do not EVER under any circumstance leave those boys unsupervised when they have been consuming alcohol. I came home to the tree which I was more than sure wasn't even going to fit in the stand because it was so small, in the stand, and fully decorated. In the kitchen none the less. While I was gone they dug through the totes in the garage and found the lights and my ornaments and went to town. Of course though not without their own touches. When I walked into the house I was speechless. I didn't know whether to laugh because the tree I must say is pretty damn awesome or be pissed because they broke some ornaments in their intoxicated adventure. I ended up laughing, how could I not. They were standing there admiring their work and just the looks on their faces when they saw me come in was priceless. I actually kind of love it but that's the redneck in me. Mini me on the other hand was less than impressed when she woke up the next morning. The 1st words out of her mouth were "What is that"? I Couldn't help but laugh and explain to her what the boys decided to do the night before. She knowing them both all to well just rolled her eyes, shook her head and told me "That's not what I had in mind for our tree mom". Again I was laughing. The things this kid says sometimes crack me up. I promised her I would pull out the fake tree and we'd go buy some new pink and sparkly ornaments just so she could have a tree she wanted. Needless to say this year we have His and Her trees!

The boys pride and joy

His and Hers

And to think I'm leaving the boys unsupervised this weekend while I head to the city for some much needed time away from our sleepy little town. Im terrified to see what the house looks like when I come back.

Here's to another round

Tis The Season If Your 21

I love this time of year! Went to my first Christmas party of the year this weekend! It was my works' party and it was a good time, I work with a bunch of awesome girls! We all brought our significant others and booze, and had an awesome dinner! My bottle was a huge hit I've already had people asking me to make them a batch of their own. I thought I would share the recipe with y'all too since it is TO DIE FOR. I kid you not I could probably drink the entire 2 gallons the recipe makes but it would probably not end well for me since its made with a 190 proof grain alcohol.

Apple Pie

Ingredients
1 gallon apple juice
1 gallon apple cider
6 cinnamon sticks
3 C. sugar
750 ml (a fifth) of 190 proof grain alcohol like ever clear or clear springs

In a large stock pot (i used our crab cooker) combine the juice, cider, cinnamon sticks and sugar. Bring to a rolling boil stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Let cool completely. Once cooled add your bottle of alcohol. Bottle into desired containers. I used the jugs the juice and cider came in but made sure to inform everyone in my house that it was not what the jug said it was.

I kid you not it tastes just like apple pie filling!!! We have managed to polish off a little more than a gallon of it so far so I think I will be making more in the very near future!

I officially started my Holiday baking yesterday! Every year I bake tons of different goodies and give them away to friends and family. I managed to make 4 different types of cookies and a southern bread pudding yesterday! The cookies of course are amazing! But the bread pudding is my absolute favorite! I brought in a plate of goodies to the shop today and the girls favorite is the bread pudding too! I would eat the entire thing if I could without feeling guilty but I would probably have to run a marathon afterwards and that is not happening.

Southern Bread Pudding

Ingredients

2 cups granulated sugar

  • 5 large beaten eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups cubed french bread, allow to sit out overnight or bake in an oven to dry it out
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped glazed pecans

      For the sauce:

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 T. brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup your favorite whiskey/bourbon

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9x2 inch pan. Place cubed bread into pan.

In a medium bowl mix together granulated sugar, eggs, and milk in a bowl; add vanilla. Pour over cubed bread and let sit for 20 minutes.

In another bowl, mix together brown sugar, butter, and pecans.

Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the top and bake for 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

For bourbon glaze sauce:

Mix the granulated sugar, butter, egg, brown sugar, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir together until the sugar is melted and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and add the bourbon, stirring well. Pour over bread pudding. Best served warm!

Ive also put raisins in it and it was pretty good but since I was giving it out to people I opted to not put the raisins in since not everyone digs em.

Loads of love and sugar!

Slacking

Hope y'all had an awesome Thanksgiving! I sure did! I love going to the boyfriends parents cause lord can that boys daddy cook!! It was a very relaxing day which was much needed because I have been so damned busy lately it is insane. I am glad to say though that moving is FINALLY over! Now to just unpack, which is the part I like because I get to organize! I'm slightly OCD. Other than Thanksgiving being on of my fav days of the year so is the day after! I joined millions of other people for Black Friday and am I ever glad I did! I will say this though living in a rural town I had to drive 24 miles to the nearest town with Black Friday deals which is also a pretty rural town. Bi-Mart and Fred Meyer woohoo! Bonus though is I don't have to fight insane crowds of thousands of people just a couple hundred!  LOL!  I did the whole Black Friday thing when I lived in Portland and that shit just gets crazy. Bi-Mart was my 1st stop they had a killer deal on a moto shade and wall kit to put the boat under which is much needed since the new house had a uber small garage. I was so glad I decided to detour through the electronics department because they had a super awesome deal on a set of Midland radios! They would have been nice to have opening morning of Elk season so my girl and I could have split up and still been in communication. The second I saw these things I was in love! They were camo! Plus they were super cool cause they came with an ear piece and have a 36 mile range on them! Way better than the 6 mile range ones I had previously looked at. I can't wait to try em out!

I ordered most of my things for Christmas this year online. I'm most excited about the PINK LED T.V I got for mini mes' room! Shes gonna flip! Ordered myself some way cute shirts from Girls with Guns clothing and from Real Hunters Wives!!!!

I should get back to being productive! More later!

Moving Sucks

My weekend was less than exciting. I spent it packing, moving and cleaning. Yuck. I wanted to be out fishing. Let me tell you what, moving out of a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a shop and a garage is hard ass work. I have so much crap. On the upside of it all though I'm weeding out alot of stuff I haven't used in ages and don't really need and I'm getting fun new things that I don't really need but WANT! I've had mossy oak in my room for years now and I was half tempted to keep it but decided it was time for a change. So I ordered brand new bedding so Im pretty stocked about it. I called it a early Christmas present to myself, which made the price tag of it all totally worth it! Tell me this isn't badass?!?!?! I also ordered the matching curtains and valance!!

Ive also found a ton of things I had forgotten I even owned too! I found a brand new still in the box rifle scope that was a gift from a friend last year, I found my body bag (a cooler for deer) that would have been handy a month ago, tons and tons of candles, just all sorts of stuff I never really unpacked when I first moved in.

Now I'm in the process of selling tons of things on Craigslist and gearing up for a garage sale this weekend so I can turn around and buy new things I'll stick in a corner and forget about!

There was a bright moment in the middle of all the chaos of cleaning and packing when the mail came and my custom made laptop sleeve arrived!!! I LOVE it! She did an amazing job! Its exactly like I told her I wanted it!!! If you ever need sleeves for you laptop, kindle, or whatever go Here

Happy Tuesday!!!

Back To Reality

Today is my first day back to reality, i.e. work. I spent the last 4 days beating down brush trying to kill my 1st elk. I had no luck. :( Opening morning I spotted 4 head over a ridge and down the hill and after hiking through the hills I finally got to the general area where I had seen them. It was apparent they had been through there not long before I got there. There were fresh tracks and droppings EVERYWHERE. I followed the tracks until they disappeared into the marsh and up the other side of the unit. It was getting close to noon so I decided to hike out and come back in the evening time to try and catch them heading back out of the brush. That didn't pan out either, no sign of the elk coming back so I hung around in the brush for a while and headed back to the junction where they had come down that morning to see if I could catch them there. Didn't find em there but I sure as hell got the surprise of my life, right where I had been in the brush 30 minutes prior there were fresh bear prints and big ol pile of crap. I decided I wasn't hanging out in the bottom of that unit anymore so I high tailed it out of there and back up to the top where I can see what in the world is around me. Now I know I shouldn't have been scared I mean for fucks sake I'm packing a 30-06, I could shoot the damned thing but I was. I'd much rather be able to see him coming from up top then straight out of the brush behind me. I definitely will be coming back for that SOB come spring bear season and I will be prepared to meet it face to face. It started getting late so it was time to head out and head home. Opening day was pretty good, spotted the herd, quiet a few deer, and evidence of a bear. I figured Sunday it would be GAME OVER.

Sunday morning I hiked back out to where I had spotted em the morning before and nothing, not even a single fresh track to even indicate that they had come back through. This was extremely disappointing. I stayed in the general area hiking up and down and all around for a few hours but decided to move on and see if I could track down another heard some where else. I spent all of Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday covering miles upon miles of back country trying to find a herd and couldn't find a damn thing. I never even saw another animal those 3 days I was out. It was crazy! I was in prime elk country and nothing. Oh well that's how it goes sometimes. There's always next year. But next year screw this general season crap I'm putting in for a controlled hunt. I will say though even though I didn't get my bull I found some prime deer locations for next fall! I also got paid time off to go hunting! Nothing better than getting paid to do something you love!

I also can't say enough about my new gloves I got the night before opener. I ran down to Walmart in the next town down because I just LOVE their hunting department! I was in dire need of some new gloves because I knew it was going to be cold. I got a few pair and of course a ton of other stuff because I cant seem to say NO to things camo! I haven't tried out the fleece pair yet but I'm sure they will be great! The Real Tree Light Weight Womans Glove was what I used all weekend long. They were light weight, comfortable, kept my hands warm and dry (ran into rain a few times), and the embossed no slip grip on the palms was AMAZING! I didnt have to worry about loosing my grip on my binos or my rifle! If you ever run across these gloves I highly recommend them, especially for the price too, I paid something like $8.00 for each pair.

And since I didn't end up with my elk I've got no pictures for you of it but I do have some of the killer views I had all weekend!!

I love living in Oregon, its gorgeous even on a cloudy day!

I will say I am SUPER glad I didn't find anything here because that hike down to the bottom and back out would have been HELL.

Here's to a bear skinned rug next year!

Starting To Get Impatient

Elk season for me starts Saturday, but I am sure you all know this by now because I can't seem to shut up about it. It's consumed my thoughts since Monday morning. I started the countdown then and I won't stop til sunrise Saturday morning! And because my mind is consumed with the thoughts of elk and hunting just about everything else that I think about gets tied into it. For instance I decided it was time for some new DIY projects and decided I wanted to make a few scarves, well I know what style I want to make the question was what color? Immediately I thought Mossy Oak or Real Tree! Leave it to me to want to make a camo scarf to wear with my dress clothes! Then I decided why not make more? Why not girl it up a bit? I'm going to make multiple. Some just camo, some camo and pink, camo and black, camo and whatever in the hell I decide at the moment!!!! Then I decided I want to make matching head bands and bows! If my weekend wasn't already pre-planned out and I wasn't out to harvest a big ol Cascade Bull Elk then I would probably whip out my camouflage dip kit and dip everything I can get my hands on. Keep your eyes peeled as my store on Etsy might just have some new items soon!!!!

Dreamin of the big one!!!!

Maybe It's The Weather

I love fall and all it has to offer! The weather (most of the time), Halloween (my favorite holiday), Salmon season on the river, Deer and Elk Season, and my favorite part of my wardrobe, boots, hoodies, and jeans!!!

The last few days I've kind of been in a rut, and not the kind of rut where bucks let down their guard and act like an idiot and run wild in the day time so they can try and score a piece of tail! I'm talking in a gloomy, moody, I need some drastic change in my life rut. Id much rather be in the other kind of rut though LOL.

Usually when I get like this as I do every fall for some reason, which has got to be due to the dreary weather that I beg for all of September so I can have a better chance at harvesting a deer I make physical changes. Well Ive already chopped about 4" off of my hair and dyed it dark a week ago so can't really change that. I mean I could I could go pixie short and bright pink but that is definitely not happening. I'm in the mood for tattoos and piercings. Ive got 6 tattoos already and 1 piercing other than my ears and I feel like more. I think piercings are a smarter prospect as they can easily be taken out but I LOVE tattoos and I am ready to start a 1/4 sleeve. I want it to be girly yet reveal who I am. How do I incorporate hunting, fishing, horses, lace, and pink into a girly tattoo??? If any of you who read this happen to be a good artist throw me some ideas! There is only 1 problem to this whole wanting a tattoo though, my artist lives in freaking Texas. That's a long ass ways away. Gives me a good excuse for a trip to my favorite place in the world! But it also makes the ink that much more expensive. Maybe it's time to find an artist closer to home. Hmmmm.

In the mean time though I just arraigned an appointment to add some more holes to my ears. I'm hoping this helps me get out of my funk and stop wanting to change things. Because quiet honestly I am itching to move back towards the city. That is not the best idea. A. I know I will hate it once I do it, B. No way my guy would ever live there, C. If I want to go hunting, fishing, or 4x4ing  Ive got quiet a ways to drive for anything decent.

Oooooh maybe some online retail therapy will perk me up. This girl needs some new binos!

The Dreaded Question

It's that time of year when friends and family start asking "What do you want for Christmas?" I don't know why but I hate that question. I never know what to say. I'm more of a buy me a gift card to my favorite stores kind of person. That works for some of my friends and fam but for others they tell me that's to impersonal. Uggh. So this year I decided I'd make a virtual wish list from all over the internet. This way they can see what I like and what I've been wanting/thinking about getting and hopefully it will give them something more "personal" to get me than a gift card. Plus I was sick all weekend and didn't do much but lay around, sleep, and watch movies so Ive got nothing super cool to blog about. But that's ok with me cause I needed to just relax and get well before next weekend cause it's elk season!! YAY!!!!

Spooktacular Weekend

I LOVE Halloween! It's the 1 weekend a year you get to dress up and act like a jackass and no one cares! Friday night the beau and I went out to a Halloween party at a friends house and it was a damn good time. I knew it would be a good time just because of the people that were going but when the hostess posted a picture on FB the day before of the 330 jello shots she'd made it only reaffirmed by belief!! So the beau and I dressed up and let me tell you what I think out of ALL the Halloweens I have ever dressed up this year was my favorite!!! We were the trailer parks finest!!!
Now tell me this isn't bad ass?!?! My hunting pants, a John Deere wife beater, a fake prego tummy, and Keystone Light rollers!!! Oh I also had a Keystone Light bracelet on that you cant see in the pic.
The trailer parks finest!
Never leave home with out your beer koozie! LOL!
Next to our costumes these guys were my favorite. B and P gave Daisy Duke a run for her $$$$!
Classy!

I think we crawled back home somewhere around 3am Saturday morning and slept most of the day away. I don't even know how many beers, jello shots and drinks I consumed but it was a damn good time and not much in the way of a hangover!!!

Decided to stay in Saturday night so that Sunday I wouldn't be so unproductive like I was all of Saturday. Took my daughter to a Halloween carnival at her school and had a good time there and as an added bonus since her school is 35 miles away from home on the way back we took a detour up through the hills for a good ol mountain run! Added an extra hour to the drive home but it was totally worth it!

Yesterday was Hippie themed at the salon. Not my cup of tea I was gunning for a 50's (pinup) or 80's (top gun) theme but I lost :(
I realized yesterday that I'm the tallest one their. Never realized it til this picture.

Once mini me got home it was time to get her all done up and go get some candy!
She's not a diva or anything.
I absolutley LOVE this picture
Again with the poses
My mini me and my guys nephews!! Love those little boys!

I am already planning next years costume and let me tell you what it's going to be BADASS!

You Know Your A Redneck When...

So I had the bright idea this morning to clean out my truck. I cant believe I let it get this bad. I have severe OCD about organization and how things should be and the mess in my truck was seriously getting to me. Once I walked out the door though my idea wasn't such a good one. It was freezing! Being the trooper that I am though I went through with it, it needed done but I only cleaned the inside out. Theres no way in hell I'm washing it, it would have turned into a frosty mess but it does nee it I cant remember the last time I washed it. As I was cleaning out the contents of the cab I was becoming more and more aware that the contents of my truck could tell someone who doesn't know me just about everything about me. I actually started laughing as I continued to pull stuff out. It made me think of Jeff Foxworthy and his "You Might Be A Redneck" lines. So I decided I would come up with my own based on what was in my truck this morning.

You might be a redneck if you get excited about finding the 1/2 rack of Keystone Light you forgot about in your back seat under your hunting bag!

You might be a redneck (girl) if you pull a camo gun case out from under the back seat and it contains a pink rifle

You might be a redneck if the pockets on the back of the drivers seat contain a bass pro shop and cabelas catalog

You might be a redneck if you find .22 rounds in the door of your truck and you leave em there cause you might just need em some time

You might be a redneck (girl) if your steering wheel cover and floor mats are realtree camo with pink accents!!!

You might be a redneck if in the middle of cleaning out your rig you find your Browning knife you tore the house apart the night before opening day looking for

You might be a redneck if 90% off the actual garbage that came out of your truck is empty boxes from buying new knives the night before the opener, empty fishing lure packages, and empty boxes that at one point contained 500 .22 rounds

If it wasn't for the pink stickers on the back window of my truck and the pink accents on my floor mats and steering wheel cover based on what I pulled out of my truck this morning you'd think it was a guys truck....

After the truck I decided to also clean out my purse this morning. Lord all mighty it was just as bad as my truck. And the contents were just as hilarious!

What was in my (camo)purse:
2 different wallets, (why 2 idk) both camo of course!
Inside 1 said wallet which is actually more like a clutch is a camo Browning beer coozie!! Hahaha
Check book (this is normal)
Some receipts (again normal)
Tons of lipglosses (normal again)
Day planner (normal)
Lottery tickets (should prob check those)
Fishing and Hunting Licenses
An empty 30-06 casing (not normal)
The knife I skinned my deer with a few wks ago (def shouldn't be there and idk why it is)
A fishing lure I bought last week and forgot about!!! Score!!!

Alright ladies whats in your purses?

Based on the contents of my truck and my purse eeither I'm not very girly, have a drinking problem (1/2 rack in the truck, coozie in the wallet), an over the top obsession with camo and firearms or Im just a badass. Im going to go with badass!!!

Cheers!

Fish On

I love living in Oregon, we've got it all! Living on the coast is even better! I've got the dunes, river, mountains, and a handful of lakes all in my back yard! I can fish and hunt within minutes of my front door step!!! And this weekend Fall weather was at its finest this weekend! Clear blue sky, sun shining, no wind and the water was calm! I took full advantage of the weekend and went fishing Saturday and Sunday morning. There's something very peaceful about being out on the lake just before sun up with the water smooth as glass and the birds chirping and an occasional frog croaking! Sun up and it was fish on! Weekend tally for myself 4 salmon landed, 1 lost, 2 trout, 2 large mouth bass and a perch! The boyfriend went out 3 days this weekend, lucky sob has 3 day weekends. He landed somewhere around 10 salmon, a couple of trout, perch and a large mouth. Mini me went out yesterday with us and she reeled in a large mouth for me then she hooked into her own trout and hooked into her first salmon, she lost it right at the boat. She was so bummed. shes wanted to catch a salmon so bad. We didn't let her salmon fish on the river this year it was just to hard. We figured when they moved into the lake we could get her one, so when she heard he had caught some Friday she told him to knock it off and leave some for her. She cracks me up. She was less than pleased when I went Saturday while she hung out with grandma and found out I had caught some. So Sunday morning it was up long before sunrise to beat the crowds to the boat launch. Getting the little one up that early when its the weekend is not always an easy task but when you say it's fishing time she flies out of bed with energy I wish I could posses even after 3 cups of coffee.

I was excited when we got to the boat ramp and there was only one other person there, Saturday was a completely different story, it was insane, there was no parking left you had to find and make your own spot along the side of the road. It soon became apparent why, there was a bass tournament going on, the lake was packed. It was almost like fishing on the river with all the "flat landers" people from the valley with their big expensive boats who have no common courtesy and think they own the river. They are such a**holes! I don't know how many times I have watched them just plow through and cut peoples lines. HELLO there's a whole other side of the river for you to motor back up AWAY from all the rest of us still trolling down. Ugh, I could rant on and on about how I feel about "flat landers" and the way the fish the river. The bass boys really pissed me and the beau off Saturday. They apparently have no respect or know what common courtesy is either! Oh wait that's right cause their "flat landers" too. We along with quiet a few others would be fishing in one of the arms of the lake and it was fish on! They'd be biting left and right, someone was usually landing a fish that was until a bass boat would come flying up into the cove wide open and scare everything off. It'd take an hour or so before anything would bite again and just as the action started back up again here comes another damn "flat lander".  I'll get off my soap box now.

Sunday was great, no bass fisherman, the water was calm, it was still dark when we put in, and it was blue sky and sunshine once the sun rose. Fish were biting at sun up!  It was great getting in good fishing with my loves! I love watching her fish and the excitement she has for it! When she hooked into the her 1st fish she was so excited she started reeling and reeling and when she got it in and realized it was a trout she was still just as happy as when it bite and she thought she might have a salmon. She unhooked it and threw it back, put her line back in and within a few minutes had another fish on. It gave her a bigger fight then the last so we got excited realizing she had a salmon on, she fought it and got it up to the boat when it popped off the hook. She was bummed she didn't get it in but still stoked she had one on. So she set the line back out and said she wad going to catch it again. Some time went by and nothing, then I hooked into a fish got it in and it was a salmon. She wasn't pleased. She is convinced that it was the salmon she had lost earlier and wasn't happy I caught it. Ooops. She hates loosing, and she hates being out fished. It got to the point when I was with her dad they'd leave me at home and go fishing because they'd never catch anything and Id have fish after fish on!!! I've got quiet the competitor on my hands, I hate to see what happens when she gets into sports and looses. Lord help me.

Early morning out on the lake! And just behind the fog bank and over that ridge is where I got my deer this year!
Fishing at 7am like its nothing!
